A Lively and Timely Conversation followed by a Fabulous Party
The Friends Annual Gala will honor our own Key West celebrity Judy Blume, who has experienced a banner year. But being the fabulous Judy has its complications. Over the decades, Blume’s books have been the subject of controversy, censorship, and bans. She will focus on this timely and very personal subject in a conversation with her friend Pat Scales, former chair of the American Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee. Their conversation promises to be nothing if not provocative.
This year our Gala following the talk will be held in the Palm Garden of the Key West Library, which will be transformed into a fairyland–tented if it should rain. Join us in this magical and intimate evening of plentiful nibbles and libations from Catered Affairs. Sit a while and gnosh with Judy, Pat, and the Library’s Friends.
This is the only ticketed event in the 2024 Speaker Series. Information about how to purchase tickets is coming on December 15th for members and January 2nd for non-members..
