The Season Begins!

Dear Friends,

It’s January, and as Sherlock Holmes is alleged to have said, “the game’s afoot!” Hopefully you are recharged and ready to dive into our 2025 programs. Here’s what one of our members wrote when she realized she had not received the December newsletter: “Please email this information to me as soon as possible so I do not miss out on one of the greatest weekly events in Key West in the winter!!!”

The Friends modestly agree. I’m in the pre-excitement phase where I’m having anxiety dreams about things going wrong (like spotting our Gala guest of honor Ann Cleeves dragging her own giant suitcase through Key West because we forgot to pick her up.) 

I can assure you this won’t happen! It’s not too late to grab your tickets here or to become a Gala sponsor this year here. If that’s not in the cards, just mark your calendars for every Monday starting January 13, when we kick off with the impressive Ayana Mathis, in partnership with the Key West Literary Seminar.

We are also experimenting with a murder mystery event February 1. (Tickets highly recommended but they are free here!) This will take place in the Palm Garden with some local suspects that you might recognize, along with special guest Ann Cleeves herself.

We on the Friends board so appreciate your support, as you volunteer, pay dues, attend our events, AND sponsor them. Although there is a lot of division in the world these days, we all agree on the importance of a thriving library for a vibrant community. Thank you!
