By now, you should be using our new and improved website. Our calendar of events is chock full of fun things to do everyday and is easily searchable by interest, age group, and branch. And our Florida History page is one of the most entertaining and informative sites you will find online. This month, I’d like to tell you about some of the other new services we’ve added recently.
GetSetUp is designed to empower older adults through personalized learning, health engagement, and resource navigation. Learn about how to use technology, health and wellness, fitness, arts and creative endeavors, and much more. You can take live online classes, watch videos, read articles and more, including live gatherings led by expert and volunteer guides. All you need is a Monroe County Public Library card. Here’s how you can GetSetUp:
- Start at www.keyslibraries.org and click on “Online 24/7 eLibrary” near the top of the page.
- This will take you to our 24/7 Resources page and you will see the card for GetSetUp.
- Now you can sign in with your 14-digit library card number – that’s the long number under the barcode on the back of your card. Type in the whole number, with no spaces.
- You can create an account using your Facebook account, email address or phone number. Now that you’ve created the account, you can just click on “Log In” in the future.
Now for the fun part! You can start browsing for the classes (live), videos (pre-recorded), or articles (if you’re someone who would rather read than watch to get information). Under Community, you can find live online volunteer-led groups on different topics.
After you GetSetUp, head to your Apple or GooglePlay Store and download the new Monroe County Public Library app! From your phone or tablet, you can quickly and easily manage your account, search the catalog, and reserve books. Just scan your library card, and you’ll be connected. You can even save your library card number in the app and use your phone to check out items at the library. Plus, it has all the links you love, including Libby, the events calendar, our historical images database, and more. Download it to your phone today!
And finally, it’s March “Book” Madness time at the Key West Library. The top circulating books of 2025 will head off in a weekly competition to be named the champion. Stop in to vote for your favorite book in our weekly bracket and put your name in for a prize drawing from among the winners each week.
