The Friends of the Key West Library Strongly Supports the Library Staff and Everyone’s Freedom to Read
The following “sense of the meeting” resolution was presented for consideration and discussion at the February 14, 2023 Friends of the Key West Library board meeting. It was unanimously approved at the April 11, 2023 board meeting.

The Friends of the Key West Library supports the American Library Association and the Florida Library Association’s stated public policies:
Open access to public library buildings by ALL people regardless of race, color, creed, or sexual orientation. The Key West Library expects every individual to behave according to its posted code of conduct.
Open access to any material in the library collection, as outlined in the ALA’s Freedom to Read policies, which also specifically respects the right of a parent to restrict reading materials for their own child, but not for ALL readers.
Open access to programs and speakers for children and adults that encourage life-long learning through the free exchange of diverse ideas in public library settings.
A library workplace free of any kind of harassment and professional discrimination by fellow staff or members of the public.
Respectfully,
Roberta Isleib
President of the Board of the Friends of the Key West Library
