Our renowned Speaker Series runs Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m., mid-January through mid-March in the Library Palm Garden at 700 Fleming Street.
The 2024 schedule of speakers and event details can be found here.
Important information for 2024: This year there will be no requirement for pre-registration for our Speaker Series events in the Palm Garden, except for the talk before the Annual Gala. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. The gates open at 5:30. We will make every effort to accommodate everyone. However, to be certain of a seat, come early.

More than 25 years ago the Friends of the Library Speaker Series began. Now it is our most popular offering by far. We have had the great pleasure of hosting many phenomenal authors including Judy Blume, Arlo Haskel, S.A. Cosby, David Garrard Lowe, Lou Harris, David Wolkowski, Sam Sifton, Carl Hiassen, Tom Perrotta, and many more.
Hosted at various locations we have always outgrown the spaces and so today the Speaker Series is held in the library’s beautiful Palm Garden.
