Jimmy Buffett Thanks the Key West Library

On the death of Jimmy Buffett, Key West experienced an outpouring of grief unlike anywhere else in the country. To a large extent Buffett made our island paradise what it is today. Friends of the Library Board Member Annette Holmstrom found a letter from Buffett in the archives of the remarkable Florida Keys History Center. It turns out that Buffett spent plenty of time right in the Key West Library, working out song lyrics and basking in the air conditioning on scorching days. We share that letter, above, with our Friends, courtesy of the Florida Keys History Center — Monroe County Library. We join the rest of Key West in bidding a sad goodbye to our friend Jimmy Buffett, who loved our library as much as we do. Thank you, Jimmy, for all the joy!
