In their meeting on May 21, the County Commissioners recognized Michael Nelson for his ten years of employment with the Monroe County Library System.
Michael was recognized for his vision and dedication, as well as his strategic thinking, wit and creative approach. Kimberly Matthews, Sr. Director of Strategic Planning & Libraries, spoke of how Michael is woven in the future of all things literary in Monroe County. She said she is grateful everyday for leadership and professionalism, along with the humanism he brings to the job.
The Friends have certainly benefited from Michael’s participation in all things literary. He has served as an advisor to our Speaker Series committee, where he is a critical component to our success in planning for and choosing speakers, and to executing our events.
