Our old friend Sam Sifton – founding editor of New York Times Cooking and current host of Times flagship newsletter The Morning — returns to Key West on March 1! Sam, of course, was our honorary guest at the Friends first gala in 2021. In the pre-gala interview, we asked him what three condiments he would take with him if he were dropped off on a desert island. Kitchens all over Key West are now stockpiled with emergency-level supplies of chili crisp, maple syrup, and Bay Seasoning.
On his return to paradise, Sam will delight Friends members and sponsors at the $1000 level or more with one of his “no recipe recipes” at a March 1 cocktail event. The party will be held at a beautiful private home in old town Key West, where hors d’oeuvres and libations will proliferate. After he mixes and mingles at the intimate gathering, Sam will demonstrate how to make of one of his favorite hors d’oeuvres on the fly. He was after all, the guy who manned hotline at The New York Times on Thanksgiving day — not to mention the author of “Thanksgiving: How to Cook It Well.” Guests will take home a signed copy of Sam’s best-selling book, See You On Sunday, which promises to make readers the host(ess) with the most(ess) of their social set.
